Americano — The 1:2 Stretch
An Americano is coffee opened up. Strong moka on its own can feel intense, but add hot water and it stretches into a longer, smoother cup. That’s the beauty of an Americano — it carries the depth of the beans while softening the edges, giving you a black coffee you can sip slowly. Brew it with Fresco Uno for a clean, everyday cup, or Tosto Intenso if you want the darker notes to linger.
SOP for Your First Americano
Step 1: Heat the water

Boil fresh water, then let it cool just a little before pouring — this keeps it lively and not flat.
Step 2: Brew the base
Make a moka pot of concentrated coffee — strong, aromatic, and ready to stretch.
Step 3: Build the 1:2 Stretch
- Fill your cup with hot water (about two parts).

-
Pour the moka coffee (one part) gently over the water. This way the coffee sits on top, blends gradually, and tastes smoother.
What to Expect
- Look: A clear, dark cup that feels lighter than straight moka.

Taste: Depth of coffee, rounded edges, and a longer sip. Less bite, more balance
Don’ts (Common Mistakes)
- Don’t pour water over the coffee — it flattens the flavor.
- Don’t over-dilute — beyond 1:2, the character gets lost.
- Don’t use water that’s still boiling — let it rest 20–30 seconds first.
Roaster’s Tip
Weigh it if you can — one part coffee, two parts water. It’s the simplest way to make sure every Americano tastes the same, cup after cup.
👉 Recommended Beans: Fresco Uno (clean and smooth) or Tosto Intenso (darker, stronger edge).
